Janet Brooking
Janet Brooking has served as the executive director of DRIVE SMART Virginia since May of 2005. Prior to her involvement with DRIVE SMART Virginia, Janet spent ten years as State Campaign Director for the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, through which she raised more than $28,000,000 for charity.
Janet received her Bachelor of Science from Mary Baldwin College and her Certificate in Philanthropy from the University of Richmond. She is also a graduate of the Virginia Collaborative Leaders Program through the Institute for Educational Leadership. She’s won several awards including a Medallion Award from the Public Relations Society of America for a video and the award from her peers at the Department of Human Resource Management for being most "Results Driven" in the agency. Janet's non-profit work has included being a docent at the Maymont Nature Center and serving on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Read Center.
Tamara J. Mann
Tamara Mann has served as the Assistant Director of DRIVE SMART Virginia since May of 2006. Prior to joining DRIVE SMART Virginia, Tamara was the Assistant Campaign Director for the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign for more than four years. She assisted in raising over $500,000 to aid the survivors of Hurricane Katrina as well as helping to raise $4.3 million dollars in 2005, which is CVC’s best campaign to date.
Tamara earned her Masters of Public Administration from Strayer University. Her undergraduate studies include a Bachelor’s in Communications and a Minor in Sociology from Old Dominion University. While attending ODU, she was a member of the Circle K Club, which promoted and participated in neighborhood volunteerism. Tamara’s volunteerism included mentoring a second grade student and participating in the annual campaign for community maintenance in the ODU district.
Wynne Reece
Wynne Reece is the newest addition to DRIVE SMART Virginia and joins the team as the Public Relations and Outreach Manager. Wynne has spent the last 11 years as a corporate recruiter recruiter in the private sector, specializing in college relations. Prior to that, she worked in the media as a radio reporter and news anchor.
Wynne graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. She is an active volunteer with Maymont and served on the board of their young professionals group, the Dooley Noted Society, for several years.
