See and Be Seen

Share the Road

Most people on the road are behind the wheel or riding as passengers—but smart drivers know it’s not just about watching for other cars. Every road user matters.

That’s why DRIVE SMART Virginia created the “See and Be Seen” campaign—a reminder that we all share the road and we all share responsibility.

Drivers: Stay focused. Keep your eyes on the road and ditch the distractions.
Pedestrians and bicyclists: Make yourself visible—wear bright or reflective clothing and use lights when it’s dark.

Virginia law says drivers must leave at least 3 feet of space when passing people walking or biking.

October is Bicyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Month in Virginia. Help us spread the word!
